If you like rich singing from the heart, harmonies that soar and entwine, then this is a treat in store. Over 100 performers from Bellingen to Brisbane will appear at the 'Singing in the Rainforest' festival on Sunday 11 November, noon until 5pm. They include Mouth Orchestra from QUT in Brisbane with a repertoire that includes improvised soundscapes and body percussion and a selection of works from Zap Mama, Paul Simon and Brian Martin. From Bellingen comes AkaBella, 30 singers specialising in World music who have appeared at the Woodford Folk Festival and at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, and from the Gold Coast are 28 South, a fabulous male barber-shop-style quartet.

The line-up includes wonderful local groups Isabella Acappella, from Lismore, Allegro Gone Troppo from the Byron area with a harmonic sound like rich chocolate and the ever-so-watchable Velvet Groove.

And more: three Stand Up Poets! and the Rockinghorse Recording Studio Ensemble Prize, where vocal groups vie for a wonderful prize - a day's recording at the studio, working with their top recording engineers.

The concert is part of the performing arts program associated with the Thursday Plantation East Coast Sculpture Show. Admission is $20/$15 concession/kids free, and includes entry to the sculpture show.
